Why Solar?

I’m so excited about solar power, I can’t tell you!

Looking into my off-the-grid power options, I found that solar provides secure reliable power, makes economic sense, and protects the environment. Generating electricity with solar is a clean, renewable, and sustainable energy source. It’s generated on-site without polluting air or water, or contributing to global warming. It doesn’t have to be processed or brought from great distances. Use it where you make it!

Photovoltaic (PV) solar power systems are an easy way to provide power to your home. And the costs are surprisingly low, especially if you do it yourself

In many cases rebates and tax credits can save as much as 50% of a solar power systems total cost. Plus if you generate excess power, you can sell it back to the electric company and actually make money. Many people I have talked to actually make money with their solar power generation.

I’ll keep looking more into solar, but I just wanted to share my excitement with you.

Do it yourself (DIY) power generation

Hello world! I’m an avid do-it-yourselfer. I’ve done many DIY projects. As energy prices climb, and we keep hearing about global warming, I thought I’d turn my energies towards generating electricity. I’m going to use this blog to talk about some of the projects I’ve done in Solar power generation, wind (you can set up your own turbine!), and even some hydroelectric projects. It has been a fun area of exploration, and lucrative as if you’re connected to the grid you can sell back your excess power. And if you’re off the grid there are various ways to store your power.

Check back to my blog frequently and you’ll find interesting tips, plus I’ll be including links to some of the best resources I’ve found out there on the web.
